Personality: Chris is a no-nonsense U.S. Marshal. He is a field officer in the Fugitive Task Force, involved in the tracking down and apprehending of fugitives, a job which he takes seriously. Outside of work, though, he tends to be a little more laid back. He is a family man who loves his family very much and still has strong ties with his mother. As a sharp contrast, though, he will not talk about his father at all, and any efforts to bring him up will result in a quick topic change, frustration or even anger. Overall, though, Chris is slow to anger, and tends to be very thoughtful when planning his actions.
Strengths: Before becoming a U.S. Marshal, Chris served in the Marines and he carried his training from the Marine Corps into the Marshal service. While it may not be noticeable when looking at him, he does exercise daily, an exercise that includes strength and agility training. While not overly strong, he is quite agile. He is also an expert marksman and has a strong analytical mind, both of which are valuable in his chosen career.
Weaknesses: Chris has asthma, but hides it. For the most part, it doesn’t cause him any problems, but given too much strain, he could get out of breath a little quicker than others. While still able to pass the appropriate physical exams, it can be a problem if he isn’t careful.
Chris is unaware of the situations between the vampires and the werewolves. That ignorance has been used against him, and probably will continue to be used against him, in the battle between the vampires and the werewolves. There have been times he’s been a pawn for the vampires and other times he has been a pawn for the werewolves. Why neither side has decided to make him aware of the conflict, and why he hasn’t yet been killed, is a mystery.
While not listed in a strength category, some of Chris’s greatest strengths can also become his greatest weaknesses. His love for his family is very powerful, and he would do just about anything to protect them. It is something that could easily be turned against him by those who seek to use him. That is something that could easily backfire, though, and those involved could easily see Chris’s wrath and retribution for their actions.
Personal Effects: Chris lives with his family in a modest sized home outside of Los Angeles, California. His wife, Grace, stays at home running a travel agency business online, and their two incomes allow them to maintain a middle-class lifestyle. There is nothing exceptional to note at his home. Of his personal effects, he does have a Glock 29 (10mm) in a lock-box hidden in a closet in his house, of which only he and his wife have access to. When off-duty, Chris will always carry his personal Glock 36 (45 cal). On duty, he has a standard issue 9×19mm Glock 19. His personal vehicle is a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup while his wife has a 2006 Kia Sedona.
Backstory: Chris almost wasn’t born. His father was very violent towards his mother, and one night while she was pregnant, he beat her so bad that she nearly miscarried. An emergency C-Section was performed a month ahead of schedule and Chris was put into the neo-natal ICU with little hope of survival. Against all odds, Chris did survive and was able to be sent home. As a result of the conditions of his birth, Chris was a sickly child. He was very thin and unusually quiet, as if crying was even a strain for him.
Due to the abuse in the home, Chris’s father was in and out of the house. The abuse never extended to the children, except in yelling, while his mother received the beatings. Despite this, she would never formally press charges. Due to the stress his mother was under, Chris’s older sister, Mary, would often take care of him. She was nine years older and often acted like Chris’s mother.
As Chris grew, his health didn’t appear to improve much. He had horrible asthma and always needed his rescue inhaler. Even walking down the street would tire him and force him to use his inhaler. His sickness always caused him to be teased and harassed at school, and then returning home to his own nightmare with his father made life almost unbearable for Chris. He took comfort in the fact that his sister was always there for him, even when his mother couldn’t be. Unfortunately, that all changed when Mary left home on a college scholarship. Chris was nine years old and felt like he didn’t have anyone. Unfortunately, he also witnessed a side of his father that was previously only visible to Mary, as she shielded her brother as much as she could.
As Chris entered into middle school and puberty, things were starting to become too much for him to handle. He was determined not to let his sickness and fears control him any more. Despite the warnings of his mother, he started finding ways to exercise more. It was very difficult and the strain had put him in the hospital a few different times during his middle school years, but by the time he entered high school, he was able to participate in most physical events. While he wasn’t able to join any athletic teams, he was able to at least participate in P.E. classes.
When Chris graduated from High School, he decided to join the Marines. He hid his asthma from them, and was able to pass the necessary physical exams for enlistment. PT in the Marines, though, was much more grueling than he thought. Many times he found himself out of breath and wheezing. Without his inhaler, he thought he was going to collapse at any moment and be thrown out. Instead of panicking, though, he calmed down the best he could, and focused on his breathing after PT was over. By some miracle he managed to make it through and graduate from Basic Training.
While Chris was deployed overseas, his sister Mary and her husband, Alex, finally managed to convince their mother to get away from their father once and for all. They helped her find a new place to live, move out her stuff, and file the appropriate divorce and restraining paperwork. Mary even convinced her mother to take her maiden name back and not keep his name anymore, to help her “visualize” the separation.
Chris spent four years in the Marines, much of it overseas. He wanted to experience the world, and, when he wasn’t fighting, he did have a chance to experience new cultures, which he enjoyed. Upon returning home, he enrolled at UCLA to study criminal justice. It was at UCLA where he met Grace, the woman that would become his wife. While she was younger than he was, she was a Junior when he was only a Freshman. After she graduated, the two were married. He continued with his schooling and then looked for a job in law enforcement.
When he was 27, a year after his graduation from UCLA, he was hired by the LAPD. Four years later he was able to join the US Marshals, out of the Los Angeles regional office, where he currently serves in the Fugitive Task Force, helping state and local officials track down and apprehend escaped fugitives.
