God of Truth and the Mind
Race: First
Sex: Male
Age: Appears to be in his late 20′s to early 30′s.
Height: 6’0″ (1.83m)
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Crystal Blue, Glows Dexter Yellow when using powers.
Father: Meteoro, God of Falling Rocks
Mother: Jasmin, Queen and Goddess of the Realm of Nightmares and Goddess of Law and Blind Justice
Twin Sister: Saja, The White Witch
Appearance:
Jas appears to be in his late 20′s to early 30′s. His long golden-blonde hair is straight, and usually worn in a ponytail. His eyes are a piercing crystal blue color that almost appears to look right through a person. He has a commanding presence, standing at six feet and height, and always stands tall and proud.
Personality:
Jas is a firm believer in Truth and Justice. Honor is extremely important to him. His word, once given, will never be broken. He expects the same from others, but understands that it isn’t always the case. Jas also fights his battles with honor. He will avoid killing, unless there is no other viable solution to the situation. Jas will always fight for Truth and Justice, and will always seek to defend the innocent. He is a friend that can be counted on, through thick and thin.
Powers:
Telepathy: With his telepathy, Jas can read minds and communicate telepathically. By reading surface thoughts, Jas can usually tell if someone is lying or not, unless they are masking their thoughts.
Telepathic Command: Using his telepathy, Jas can give commands that others will be forced to obey.
Presence: There is a presence that surrounds Jas that others can almost feel. It will put others in awe of him and give others convictions of injustices.
Telekinesis: Jas has the ability to move small objects with great force using his mind. He can move and “throw” objects of the same size he could lift and throw physically. Using the telekinesis on himself, he can walk on water or allow himself to jump twice the height and distance normally.
Powers when wearing the Memory Crystal
Psychic Shield: While wearing the crystal, Jas’s mind is protected from all sorts of mental and psychic attacks. Telepathic communication can still occur, but anything more than a simple conversation will be blocked by the psychic shield.
Enhanced Telepathy: Jas can actually dig beyond just the surface thoughts of an individual to retrieve thoughts and memories deeper in the subconscious. This ability can be used to help Jas determine if a person is lying, even if they are trying to mask their thoughts.
Psychic Control: This control goes beyond simple commands. Jas is actually able to use his telepathy to control another’s actions. The target’s mind is suppressed and unable to realize what is happening. While in control, Jas is able to see, hear and experience everything the target sees, hears and experiences.
Psychic Link: This variation of the Psychic Control allows Jas to link to another’s mind, not to control it, but to experience everything the target is experiencing. It is more of a symbiotic relationship, where Jas is able to hear all the thoughts as if they were his own. If he wanted, he could make the link bi-directional, allowing the other person to experience what he is experiencing as well.
Enhanced Telekinesis: Jas is able to use his telekinesis to manipulate objects up to five times his size as if it were no bigger than a stone the size of his fist. He can use this telekinesis to give him the ability of flight at incredible speeds. He can even use his telekinesis to form a bubble of breathable air so he can travel through water or even space.
Psychic Blast: A concentrated blast of pure psychic energy can be channeled through the crystal at a target. Depending on the power of the blast, and the mental strength of the target, the result of the blast could be anything from a mild headache with some short-term memory loss, to complete catatonia or death.
Psychic Projection: Jas is able to enter a medatative state and send his mind to other locations. His psychically projected self appears as a golden, ghost-like, version of himself. His psychic form can’t directly manipulate objects in the remote area, but he is able to use his basic telepathic and telekinetic abilities (those not enhanced by the crystal) at the remote locations to allow him to communicate and manipulate objects in the remote area.
Equipment:
Memory Crystal: Jasmin created the Memory Crystal in the days of Altwaal, when she was acting as Goddess of Law and Justice. It was designed to help her focus and amplify her mental abilities to help her in her duties. The crystal is a clear, flawless, perfectly-cut crystal that hangs on a silver chain that will never tarnish. The power contained in the crystal causes it to glow with a faint white light. As mental energies are channeled through the crystal, the light will grow in intensity to the point of blinding any who look at the light.
The Memory Crystal stores the memories of those that come into contact with it. Any telepath wearing the crystal can tap into the memories as if they were their own. Tapping into the memories will cause the crystal to visibly dim, as opposed to brighten, as is typical with other powers.
Non-telepaths that wear the Memory Crystal are given the ability to communicate telepathically, and offered minor protection against mental attacks. They cannot directly tap into the memories, except that they may receive “flash-backs” on occasion, depending on what event might trigger them. Telepathcs and other beings with mental/psychic powers can have their abilities magnified exponentially when wearing the crystal. In addition, the memory crystal offers “shielding” that prevents all mental intrusions and attacks.
Jasmin also created a rod at the same time she created the Memory Crystal. Jasmin’s Rod has the ability to absorb the power of the crystal for an hour at a time. When the crystal is neutralized, the glow disappears completely as the crystal is powerless during that time.
Dikaios (Sword of Justice): Dikaios was Jasmin’s sword when she was acting as Goddess of Law and Justice in Elysia. Dikaios is sharp enough to injure and kill even the most powerful of First. It never grows dull, nor does it ever tarnish. Dikaios can only be held by those who seek Justice. For anyone else, it would seem as if the weight made it impossible to lift, no matter the strength of the person trying to lift it. Jasmin and Jas are able to telepathically “call” Dikaios into their hand, regardless of distance. Jasmin, though, has lost the ability to use or call Dikaios when she became Queen of Nightmares, as she has lost sight of Justice.
Background:
Jas was the first born of twins. His sister, Saja, was born right after, holding his heel. Even in the womb, Jas and Saja were fighting each other. After they were born, Jasmin knew that Saja would be a danger to Jas, and had Isabel take her away where she could never be a threat to her family, or the First. Jasmin raised Jas alone on Starron and taught him everything he needed to know about truth, law and justice. She instilled in him a high sense of honor and duty, and prepared him to become her right hand man when it came time to rule Elysia. From his birth, she told him that his purpose was to eventually reunite the houses, and she would be able to establish law and justice. She never told him who his father was, nor mentioned anything about a sister.
Jas didn’t fully agree with his mother’s plans. While he knew that law and justice were needed, and believed that the First needed to stand united, he thought his mother’s “justice” was too cold and impersonal. Finally, he decided to leave Starron, to see for himself the ways of the First. When Jas was preparing to leave, Jasmin gave him her old sword, Dikaios, and her Memory Crystal, knowing that they would help him in his interactions with the First. She still believed he would be the one to unite the houses.
Jas’s early travels led him to the Secundae Orphanage on Elysia. Since his mother never told him about his father, he decided to start there to try to find him. It was there he met Meteoro for the first time. He was searching for Sil, and Jas agreed to go with him to aid in the search. There was something familiar about Meteoro, but Jas couldn’t determine exactly what it was at that time.
During the search for Sil, they wound up in a battle against an ancient god known as Anubis. During that battle, Jas helped Millennium fight off someone trying to control his mind. It was the first time Jas had tapped into the powers of the Memory Crystal he had been given. During that mental struggle, Jas saw some memories from his mother’s past and realized that Meteoro was his father.
After the battle, Jas and Meteoro went to Meteoro’s Sinister School. There, he confronted Meteoro with the truth. Using the Memory Crystal, he helped Meteoro regain his lost memories. Meteoro, though, refused to believe it, and Jas and Meteoro went their separate ways. Some time later, Jas and Meteoro meet at the Sinister School again, this time Jasmin is there as well. It is at this time that Meteoro finally realizes that the memories were true.
During the Negation War, Jas was fighting alongside other First, trying to push the Negation Forces back into the Negation Universe. During one battle, he encountered a Lawbringer, Lawbringer NSAN. Lawbringer NSAN was a powerful telepathic Lawbringer that was able to inflict various forms insanity on his targets. The Memory Crystal, which normally protected him from mental attacks, couldn’t fully protect him from the unusual mental attacks from the Negation Universe. The two other First he was with died quickly at Lawbringer NSAN’s mental assaults, while Jas lasted a little longer before he was finally defeated and left for dead. Lawbringer NSAN took the Memory Crystal for himself, to use its powers to augment its own telepathic abilities.
It was a short time after the war had ended that Jas was found by Shae’la. Over the next few months, Shae’la helped Jas recover. Many of Jas’s memories were lost as a result of the mental damage he received at the hands of Lawbringer NSAN. He didn’t lose all his memories, but there were large gaps in his memory. He knew he needed to recover his Memory Crystal in order to fill in the gaps in his memory, and his only lead was Lawbringer NSAN who he fought during the Negation War. He and Shae’la traveled together, trying to find clues as to the fate of Lawbringer NSAN and the location of his Memory Crystal. This search eventually led them to the world of Kenos and the legend of some island known as Isla del Dios. Jas believed that he would find his Memory Crystal on this island, but knew he would need to get the help of the locals to find it.
On Kenos, he managed to make his way to Isla del Dios with the help of two pirates, Captain Matthias and Captain Jack. On the island, he encountered the dragon that was guarding his memory crystal and helped that dragon return to the Matrix Quadrant. In addition, he countered a woman that seemed to have a mist like form that made her impossible to harm physically. This woman, Saja, claimed to be his twin sister, a fact confirmed to be true a little later by his mother.
